Garaway softball posts big wins, drops tight one
Pirates earn three wins despite tough loss
Claymont needed 11 innings to eke out a 2-1 win over Garaway in Inter-Valley Conference softball play May 4.
True Tango tripled, singled twice and walked to lead the Pirates. Kayla Miller had two singles, Keaton Yoder had a double and a single, and Krista Miller had an RBI single. Annabelle King suffered the loss in the circle, striking out 11.
Garaway picked up 11-4 and 9-1 wins over River View in nonleague action May 2.
Tango homered, singled and doubled with three RBIs to lead the Pirates in the first game. King pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts while adding a single, double and RBI at the plate. Krista Miller had a single and a double with three runs scored, Jaylene Jimenez had two singles, Nadia Pope doubled, and Yoder drove in three runs.
Landri Miller pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts for her first varsity win and added a double to pace Garaway in the second game. Krista Miller tripled, Kayla Miller singled, Pope hit a two-run home run, and Yoder doubled and had an RBI.
Garaway rolled to an 11-2 win over Sandy Valley in an IVC clash April 30.
