Both Harrison Central track teams won a four-team meet April 28 in Cadiz. The Huskies combined for 14 first-place finishes against East Liverpool, Indian Creek and St. Clairsville.

The boys finished first with 114 points, followed by East Liverpool with 78, Indian Creek with 40 and St. Clairsville with 20. The girls also finished first with 69 points, followed by East Liverpool with 63, St. Clairsville with 54 and Indian Creek with 40.

First-place finishers and top point earners for the Harrison Central boys were Jacob Quito in the 100-meter dash (10.98) and 200-meter dash (22.39), Brady Hyre in the 400-meter dash (53.61), Beau Rinkes in the 110-meter hurdles (15.20), the 4x100 relay team of Hunter Fulton, Jaden Harris, Chaz Culbertson and Chad Byers (46.22), the 4x200 relay team of Quito, Rinkes, Triston Cole and Hyre (1:32.81), the 4x400 relay team of Rinkes, Hyre, Cole and Quito (3:46.59), Dylan Walters in the shot put (46-7), Hyre in the high jump (5-8) and Trenten Allison in the pole vault (14-0).

First-place finishers and top point earners for the Harrison Central girls were Emily Cope in the 800 meters (2:41.44), Teagan Parks in the 100-meter hurdles (17.78), the 4x400 relay team of Grace Miller, Hannah Grady, Cope and Brittani Feezel (5:15.59), Lillianne Smith in the discus (86-9) and Parks in the pole vault (8-6).

Senior Beau Rinkes has continued to improve his times in the 110-meter high hurdles. He credits his success to his coaches and what he has taught himself.

“I have been running hurdles for six years,” Rinkes said. “In all of my events, I have consistently finished in first or second place. However, I do have two third-place finishes. One of the finishes was at Indian Valley and the other at Martins Ferry. Along with what the coaches help me with, for the most part I have trained myself to become better each year. My personal-best time is 15.13. One good thing is that I do have a lot of family support, and they come to as many events as they can, and that helps.”
