Lemmie Causby celebrates 100th birthday
He is the last surviving World War II veteran in Harrison County
AD
Lemmie Causby celebrated his 100th birthday May 23.
A birthday celebration is being planned in his honor. Causby currently resides at Gable Care Center in Hopedale.
AD
He is the last surviving World War II veteran in Harrison County. He also is the last charter member of the Hopedale Legion. Causby rarely speaks of his war experience, as is true of many veterans.
After serving in the 75th Infantry for three years, Causby married his wife, Lucille. They celebrated 62 years together before her death.
He was employed by Consol Coal for 38 years. He loves NASCAR, mostly Fords, and would purchase a new car every three years.
Causby is the father of Robert and Charles Causby.
