The JVS offers 18 career-technical education programs, including culinary arts.

Space remains available for high school students considering career options at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School.

Principal/Supervisor Heather Hoover said openings remain in select programs. Space is limited, but students still have an opportunity to apply.

The JVS offers 18 career-technical education programs, including animal science management, auto collision, auto service technology, carpentry, computer networking technologies, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, early childhood education, electrical trades, health technologies, heavy equipment operation, multimedia and design, power mechanics, Transition to Work and welding. HVACR and firefighter/EMT courses will begin this fall.

“At the JVS, students don’t just learn about careers; they experience them,” Hoover said. “Students graduate with more than just their diplomas. They receive certifications, work-based learning experience and opportunities for their future.”

Incoming students who have been accepted will receive welcome packets as officials plan for the 2026-27 school year. About 242 new students have enrolled, with more than 400 juniors and seniors expected overall.

“Prospective students and their families also have an opportunity for school tours and visits,” Hoover said.

Applications are available at www.jeffjvs.org. For more information, call 740-264-5545. The JVS is operating on summer hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is closed on holidays.
