Harrison Community Hospital hosts 3D mammography open house
The event highlighted the hospital’s continued commitment to expanding women’s health care services in the community
WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital recently hosted an open house to showcase its new 3D mammography unit.
The event highlighted the hospital’s continued commitment to expanding women’s health care services in the community. Staff also educated attendees on how the new technology enhances patient care and provides access to advanced breast imaging services closer to home.
The new mammography system features the MammoPad Breast Cushion, a specialized foam cushion designed to provide a more comfortable exam experience, along with the SmartCurve compression paddle. The curved compression device mirrors the natural shape of the breast to help reduce discomfort while providing more even compression.
“We are proud to bring this advanced 3D mammography technology to Harrison Community Hospital and continue expanding access to high-quality care close to home for our patients,” Karen Mihalic, director of imaging operations, said. “This new equipment not only provides clearer, more detailed imaging for early detection, but also creates a more comfortable experience for patients, reinforcing our commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care within our community.”
