Ohio State University Extension, in partnership with the Harrison Soil and Water Conservation District and Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District, will host a pond clinic June 18 from 4-6 p.m. at 7082 County Road 53 in Hammondsville.

The field-based program is designed for landowners and community members interested in improving pond management for wildlife habitat and recreation. Participants will learn from natural resource professionals while exploring a local pond setting.

Topics will include identification and management of native pond vegetation and aquatic weeds, fish species selection and stocking considerations, best practices for fishing in ponds, strategies for attracting birds and pollinators and management of nuisance wildlife such as muskrats and Canada geese.

“This program is a great opportunity for pond owners to gain practical, science-based knowledge they can apply on their own property,” said Erika Lyon, agriculture and natural resources educator with Ohio State University Extension. “Whether you are interested in improving water quality, enhancing wildlife habitat or maximizing recreational use, this clinic will provide valuable insights.”

Light refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
