Harrison Central boys place second at OVAC track championships
The OVAC’s five classes returned to St. Clairsville May 9, for the final day of the 2026 Track and Field Championships
The OVAC’s five classes returned to St. Clairsville May 9, for the final day of the 2026 Track and Field Championships. A total of 37 schools competed Saturday.
In Class 4A boys competition, St. Clairsville finished first with 106 points, followed by Harrison Central with 90, Beaver Local with 76, Weir and Oak Glen tied with 44, Union Local with 40, Edison with 26, East Liverpool with 18, Cambridge with 16, Buckeye Local with 10 and Indian Creek with six.
In Class 4A girls competition, Edison finished first with 100 points, followed by Cambridge with 90, St. Clairsville with 72, Indian Creek with 44, Weir and Union Local tied with 36, The Linsly School with 32, Oak Glen with 28, Beaver Local with 16, Buckeye Local with 14 and Harrison Central with eight.
For Harrison Central’s boys, Jacob Quito was first in the 100 meters and second in the 200 in 22.73 seconds. Beau Rinkes placed fifth in the 110 hurdles in 15.52. The 4x200 relay team of Quito, Rinkes, Triston Cole and Brady Hyre placed second in 1:30.61.
Dylan Walters finished seventh in the shot put at 46 feet, 11 inches. Chase Byers and Trenton Allisson placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the pole vault at 12-6.
For the Harrison Central girls, Lillianne Smith finished 10th in the discus at 109 feet. Teagan Parks competed in the pole vault.
“We had three Class 4A champions at the OVAC meet this year,” Harrison Central boys coach Luke Turner said. “Anyone who places at the OVAC meet usually does very well in Division III districts, which is coming up May 20 and 23. That meet will also take place in St. Clairsville this year. We have some things to clean up and fine-tune, but we will be ready.”
