Harrison Central had 10 hits, drew two walks and struck out once

Home field held no advantage for St. Clairsville April 30. The Lady Huskies plated five runs in the second inning to break open a 1-0 ballgame, prevailing 10-0 in six innings.

Mikayla Pelegreen started the scoring for the Huskies in the first inning. After reaching first on an error, she advanced to second on a passed ball and third after tagging up on a fly ball to left field. Kam Crothers then singled, scoring Pelegreen.

Lillian Thomas doubled to left field in the second inning, then stole third as Emma Jarvis walked. A passed ball allowed Thomas to score and Jarvis to advance to third. Jarvis then scored on a passed ball. Pelegreen walked before stealing second base and scoring on a Kara Blackburn single.

Blackburn moved to second on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Denali Stull, who ended up on first base. Crothers hit a drive to center field and reached first when the ball was misplayed, allowing Blackburn and Stull to score.

The Huskies added two runs in the fourth. Stull tripled and scored on a Crothers single. Crothers advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a passed ball.

Harrison Central added its final two runs in the sixth. Pelegreen led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and third on an infield out. Stull then singled, scoring Pelegreen. Stull stole second and scored on a Red Devil error.

Pelegreen earned the victory in the circle, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out 12 and walking one.

Substitute batterymates Kate Cumings and Madelyn Johnson secured the final three outs of the game. Cumings recorded the first out by snagging a pop foul. Johnson closed the game with two strikeouts, allowing no runs and no hits.

Harrison Central had 10 hits, drew two walks and struck out once. Stull, Crothers and Thomas recorded multiple hits, including Stull’s triple and Thomas’ double.
