Harrison Central students stage mock trial at courthouse
Students presented cases before family members, peers and community members
Students at Harrison Central High School brought classroom learning to life during a mock trial experience at the Harrison County Courthouse.
Since October, Judge T. Shawn Hervey Puskarich has worked with Samantha McIntosh’s class to prepare students for the event. Their efforts culminated in a live courtroom simulation in which students presented cases before family members, peers and community members.
District officials said the experience reflects the value of partnerships between schools and local leaders, giving students hands-on learning opportunities that help build confidence and real-world skills.
The district also thanked county leaders for their continued support, along with Prosecutor Lauren Knight and Attorney Jenna Hokes, who served as judges. Both offered feedback to help students refine their skills ahead of their next mock trial May 1 against Edison Local.
