Jesse Keller of Carrollton appeared in Harrison County Common Pleas Court June 2 for a negotiated plea agreement.

Originally charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, and trespassing in a habitation, a fourth-degree felony, Keller pleaded guilty to the trespassing charge. The burglary charge was dismissed.

According to Prosecutor Lauren Knight, Keller avoided prison time but received a 17-month reserved sentence, two years of community control and 80 hours of community service.

“We’re not requesting post-conviction no contact,” Knight said, adding that the victim had been consulted and agreed with the resolution.

Keller's attorney, Craig McKinney, thanked the state for working with him on the case and noted the absence of a no-contact order. Had Keller been convicted at trial, he faced up to 18 months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

In a separate case, Josh B. Grim of Cadiz faced charges of menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony; aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor; and possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.

The case was resolved when Grim pleaded guilty to an amended indictment on the drug charge and to aggravated menacing.

His sentence included two years of probation on the drug charge, completion of the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center program, 80 hours of community service, a firearms disability and a $5,000 fine. A reserved prison sentence of 30 months also was imposed. The aggravated menacing sentence merged with the felony sentence. Grim was represented by Jacob A. Leach.

Jake Emery of Jewett, represented by Anthony Jackson, and Jessica R. Keadle of Jewett, represented by Blaine Jones, each face a fourth-degree felony theft charge.

Their cases were not resolved following pretrial conferences held in chambers. Emery is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 11, and Keadle is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 10:15 a.m. the same day.
