Harrison County Fair Board prepares grounds for fair
With the county fair about six weeks away, preparations also are underway for America 250
The Harrison County Fair Board has been working on repairs during the offseason using a $720,000 grant received through the state capital budget plan, according to board President Rich Eberhart.
Eberhart said the funding was aided by Donald Jones, a Republican former member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 95th district from 2019 to 2025.
Eberhart said the grant money has allowed the fair board to complete electrical upgrades and other repairs, opening the door to expanding vendor opportunities. He said vendors were more plentiful than usual last year, and additional work remains before the grant spending deadline in December.
The 4-H building is nearly complete, Eberhart said. In one section, workers laid down a wood finish, while the main section already had a wood floor that had been covered for years. That floor has been refurbished as part of what became a full remodel.
With the county fair about six weeks away, preparations also are underway for America 250, including work around the gazebo area and decorations.
Eberhart said the fair board always is looking for volunteers, and this year is no different.
“The fair can’t happen without volunteers,” he said. “We have some amazing people that participate.”
