Harrison County plans America 250 celebration
Cadiz will host a free July 11 event with a parade, courthouse activities, concerts and fireworks at Sally Buffalo Park
Harrison County will celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a daylong community event July 11 at the Harrison County Courthouse and Sally Buffalo Park.
Activities will begin with a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m. provided by the Lions Club by donation. A flag-raising ceremony and the singing of the national anthem will take place at 10 a.m.
Other activities throughout the day include a car show, historical presentations by Adrian Pincola, an apple pie baking contest, children's activities, patriotic music by the Harrison County Chorale and lunch provided by the Masonic Lodge by donation.
The celebration will feature an America 250 Parade at 2 p.m. with the theme "Honoring America." Organizers encourage participants to decorate entries in red, white and blue.
Parade lineup will begin at 1 p.m. on Grant Street at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. Participants must enter from Industrial Park Road. The parade route will travel along Grant Street, South Main Street and Market Street through Cadiz.
Following the parade, the celebration will continue at Sally Buffalo Park with concerts and fireworks.
The event is free and open to the public.
