Button sale set July 11 at Warther Museum
Thousands of antique and vintage buttons for crafting and collecting will be on display and available for purchase
Crafters, button collectors and anyone interested in learning about the hobby of button collecting will have a unique opportunity July 11 when the Zane Trace Button Club hosts the Buckeye State Button Society’s Summer Button Sale.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the meeting room at the Warther Museum, 331 Karl Ave., Dover. Admission is free and the sale may be accessed through the museum gift shop. Lunch will be available for purchase.
Thousands of antique and vintage buttons for crafting and collecting will be on display and available for purchase.
The event also complements a visit to Frieda Warther’s Button House, which showcases much of the collection assembled by the wife of master carver Ernest “Mooney” Warther. The Button House features buttons arranged in geometric patterns on large display panels and highlights the hobby of button collecting, which has been officially organized in the United States since 1938.
Organizers said crafters can find inspiration for projects, collectors can add to their collections and newcomers can learn how to begin collecting buttons.
