Tuscarawas County Democratic Party elects officers
The party selected Genaro DeMonte of New Philadelphia to serve as chair of the Executive Committee
The Tuscarawas County Democratic Party Central Committee met May 26 for a reorganizational meeting.
Members of the Central Committee were sworn into office by Judge Michael Ernest.
Central Committee officers elected were Martha Campbell, chair; Dr. Michael Brown, vice chair; Michele Erwin, secretary; and Larry Lindberg, treasurer.
The party selected Genaro DeMonte of New Philadelphia to serve as chair of the Executive Committee.
DeMonte is president of the Tuscarawas County Young Democrats and serves on the Democratic Party Central and Executive committees. He is the assistant engineer for the Tuscarawas County Engineer. He is a graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School and Cleveland State University.
Brian Hanner of Dover also was a candidate for chairman.
“My plan for the party is to begin with our local community first through grassroots efforts. This will allow us to talk and make connections to the members of our community and show that we all have the same needs and wants out of government. This sets up the goal of winning back cities and villages first to build a base to then continue this community effort on to Columbus and then Washington, because organized and educated people will always defeat corruption,” DeMonte said.
The remainder of the Executive Committee officers will be elected at the meeting at 6:30 p.m. June 16 at Democratic headquarters.
