Cy Young Days Festival royalty contest planned
An informational meeting for Newcomerstown-area students and families is set for 5:30 p.m. June 1 at Cy Young Park
The Cy Young Days Festival is inviting area students to step up to the plate and compete in the 2026 Cy Young Days Festival Royalty Contest, celebrating hometown pride, community spirit and the legacy of baseball great Cy Young.
An informational meeting for prospective contestants and their families will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, at the pavilion by the pool at Cy Young Park.
Festival organizers encourage students with “sparkle, spirit, confidence and a love of fun” to participate in the annual contest, which recognizes local youth ambassadors for the community festival.
Contest categories for the 2026-27 school year include:
Little Miss — pre-K
Princess — grades K-two
Mini Queen — grades three-five
Junior Queen — grades six-eight
Queen — grades nine-12
During the informational meeting, attendees will learn about contest expectations, appearances, activities and opportunities associated with serving on the Cy Young Days Festival Royalty Court.
The event also will feature reigning Queen Maddie, who will share highlights from her experience representing the festival.
The Cy Young Days Festival is named in honor of Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young, a native of Newcomerstown and one of the most celebrated pitchers in baseball history. Organizers say the festival continues to celebrate his legacy through community involvement, hometown pride and family-friendly activities.
Festival representatives encourage interested participants and families to bring questions, excitement and “winning spirit” to the meeting.
For additional information about the Cy Young Days Festival Royalty Contest, attendees are encouraged to attend the informational meeting June 1 at Cy Young Park.
