Library system to begin summer storytimes

Summer storytimes featuring songs, stories and fun for various ages begin June 8 at the Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s five locations.

“I think the most important thing storytimes can do is help kids learn to love books,” Sugarcreek Branch Supervisor Olivia Martin said. “While storytimes give kids the chance to get familiar with books, learn new vocabulary and start them on their reading journey, storytimes also help kids view reading as a fun activity.”

Storytimes are offered for different age groups and at different times, including evenings and weekends.

Weekly family storytimes, for ages birth to 5, include stories, songs and fun. They will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mondays at the Bolivar Branch; 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Strasburg, Sugarcreek and Tusky branches; and 11 a.m. Saturdays at the Main Library.

Monthly evening storytimes, for ages birth to 5, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursdays, June 18 and July 16, at the Tusky Branch.

Weekly Itty Bitty Storytime, for ages birth to 24 months, is designed for babies and caregivers to explore songs, stories and fun. It will be held at 6 p.m. Mondays or 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the Main Library.

Weekly Toddler Time, for ages 2-3, is designed to engage toddlers with movement, stories, songs and instruments. It will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the Main Library.

Weekly Preschool Storytime, for ages 3-5, is designed for preschoolers with fun, interactive activities. It will be held at 10 a.m. Mondays at the Main Library.
