Library system offers free summer camps
Camps will focus on dinosaurs, earth science, art, food and games at library locations across the system
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will offer free summer camps for school-age children in kindergarten through fifth grade beginning in June.
Camps will focus on dinosaurs, earth science, art, food and games at library locations across the system.
“We are really excited to provide kids a fun environment to learn and connect with other kids in the community,” Sugarcreek Branch Supervisor Olivia Martin said.
Camps include:
Art Camp will be held at 10 a.m. Mondays, June 8 through July 27, at the Main Library. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can learn about different artists and art movements and reinterpret works and styles using various mediums. Participants should wear clothes that can get messy.
Dinosaur Summer Camp will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesdays, June 10, 17 and 24 and July 1 and 8, at the Sugarcreek Branch. Children in grades one through five can take part in earth science lessons and geology-themed art projects.
Fun with Food will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the Main Library. Sessions include June 10 for kindergarten through second grade, June 24 for second and third and July 8 for third through fifth grade. Participants will make dino-themed recipes.
Dino Detectives will be held at 3 p.m. Thursdays, June 11, 18 and 25, at the Main Library. Children will solve dino-themed mysteries and discover clues like paleontologists.
Paleontology Camp will be held at 3 p.m. Thursdays, June 11, 18 and 25, at the Strasburg Branch. Children in grades one through six will learn about dinosaurs through hands-on activities.
Dinosaur Cooking Camp will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mondays, June 15, 22 and 29, at the Tusky Branch. Children in grades K-5 can make different dino-themed recipes.
IRL Games will be held at 4:30 p.m. Fridays, July 10, 17 and 24, at the Main Library. Children in grades three through five can create playdough pizzas, race through an obstacle course and dress for themed fashion shows. Participants should wear easily layered clothing.
