Train excursion planned for Newark Strawberry Festival
The event includes strawberry shortcake, food vendors, rides, music, entertainment and fireworks
The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum will offer train excursions May 30-31 for the Newark Strawberry Festival.
Tickets range from $90 to $110 and can be purchgased online at
dennisondepot.org/event/newark-picnic-homecoming-strawberry-fest-flyer/.
The train will depart Dennison May 30 at 9 a.m. and arrive in Newark at 11 a.m. Passengers will have a three-hour layover before departing Newark at 2 p.m. and arriving in Dennison at 4 p.m.
The festival, hosted by the Newark Kiwanis Club, is held annually the weekend after Memorial Day in downtown Newark. The event includes strawberry shortcake, food vendors, rides, music, entertainment and fireworks.
Passengers also can take part in picnic-themed activities and free architectural tours of the Newark Arcade, Courthouse West Courtroom, Midland Theatre and Louis Sullivan Building. A tour of the Historic Jail costs $10 per person. Saturday passengers also will receive free admission to The Works Museum.
Passengers may travel by train to Newark Saturday, stay overnight at the DoubleTree by Hilton and return to Dennison by train at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31.
