Ohio Star Theater adds sensory bags for guests
As another step toward accessibility and inclusivity, the theater now has a limited supply of sensory bags for children and adults
Ohio Star Theater has launched an initiative to improve the entertainment experience for guests with sensory needs.
As another step toward accessibility and inclusivity, the theater now has a limited supply of sensory bags for children and adults. Each bag includes a weighted blanket, noise-dampening headphones, sunglasses and quiet fidget toys.
“These items are not intended for children who may simply want something to play with but can be of great assistance to those who may feel overstimulated by their theater experience,” said Larissa Carrick, Ohio Star Theater managing director. “Sometimes, individuals can find the lights and sounds a little overwhelming, or have a difficult time sitting still, and we want them to feel as comfortable as possible during the performance. We hope offering these supplies will allow more guests the opportunity to enjoy the theater.”
Bags can be checked out from the concession stand with a valid ID.
Booster seats and assistive hearing amplification devices also are available from the Ohio Star Theater box office. Those items are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved when purchasing tickets by phone or in person at the box office, or checked out upon arrival.
