Norma Johnson Center seeks submissions for art exhibition

The event will celebrate the beauty, power and wonder of the natural world through a juried exhibition featuring nature-inspired artwork by local artists

Local artists can submit up to three pieces by Aug. 26. Artists will retain 100% of sales from artwork sold during the event.

The Norma Johnson Center will host Ode to the Outdoors from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 12 in the newly renovated Red Barn at the Norma Johnson Center, 3645 Conservation Drive, Dover.

The event will celebrate the beauty, power and wonder of the natural world through a juried exhibition featuring nature-inspired artwork by local artists.

Guests will enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres and mocktails while viewing artwork available for purchase. Awards will be presented for Best in Show, Honorable Mention and People’s Choice.

Organizers said the exhibition will feature a curated collection of artwork ranging from landscapes to abstract interpretations of nature and is intended to highlight the connection between people and the natural environment.

Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces for consideration. No more than two works will be accepted from each artist. Artists will retain 100% of sales from artwork sold during the event.

The exhibition is open to all mediums and styles. Submitted works will be considered for Best in Show, Honorable Mention and People’s Choice awards.

The deadline to submit artwork is Aug. 26. Artists will be notified of selections Aug. 28.

Artwork drop-off will be Sept. 2 and 3 from noon to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Brandywine Center, 4820 Old Route 39 NW, Dover.

Artwork may be picked up from 8-9 p.m. following the event Sept. 12 or by arrangement Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Brandywine Center.
