Walter R. Virtue
Walter Ray Virtue, a devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend to many, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 62.
Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Virtue (Effie); his mother, Edith Wood; and his sister, Susie Bausell.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly: his daughters, Kendra Austin (Matt) and Kelsey Snodgrass (James), and his grandsons, Wyatt and Lucas Austin, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Barrickman and his brother Mike Virtue (Emily), along with their families.
After graduation, Walter joined the United States Navy. His time in service reflected the same qualities that defined the rest of his life - dedication, humility, and strength. He went on to spend most of his professional career with Novelis, where he worked for more than 25 years.
Walter found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved camping, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, and never met a stranger. Those who knew him will remember his sense of humor, his steady presence, and the quiet, consistent ways he showed love - not always with words, but always with actions.
Visitation and memorial services were held at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ohio, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. with Matt Austin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Walter's honor to K9s For Warriors (http:// k9sforwarriors.org)
Walter will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
