Hal Wheaton

Harold L. Wheaton (“Hal”) of Streetsboro, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2025. He was 88 years old. Hal formerly lived in Hartville, Bowerston, Minerva, Novelty and Kensington Ohio, since leaving Illinois in 1968.

Born April 22, 1937, in Hinsdale, Illinois to the late Harold L Sr., and Jane (Yegge) Wheaton, he was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate Patricia (Lane) Wheaton, sister Georgia Barbrow, and brother Charles Towey.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law John and Cathy (Daigle) Wheaton, grandchildren Hannah (Adam) Miller, Joshua Wheaton, Nathan Wheaton, great-grandchildren Fiona and Charlie Miller, sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, nieces, and nephews.

A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1959 with a BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, he spent most of his career in the development of high temperature alloys for aircraft components. He retired from PCC Airfoils in Minerva Ohio in 2000 but consulted there until 2013.

Hal and Pat spent many happy years on their tree farm in Carroll County before moving to Hartville. He loved woodworking, painting, and music. He enjoyed playing bluegrass jams at home, and praise and worship at local churches. He built many pieces of furniture, guitars, banjos, and was a prolific painter.

He loved his family, and his adopted extended family (the Daigle’s ) his grandchildren and great grandchildren, prayerfully giving them encouragement in their future and leaving a spiritual legacy to follow.

Hal was a believer in Jesus having come to faith as an adult. He was a member of Evermore Community Church in Hartville, Ohio.

Calling hours were held October 17, 2025, at Evermore Church from 10:30 to 11:30 am followed by a funeral service. A meal was provided afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St Judes Children’s Hospital, Compassion International, Haven of Rest, Samaritans Purse, or Salvation Army.
