John Kinder Lovejoy
John Kinder Lovejoy, 68, of Jewett, Ohio, passed away on January 17, 2026, at his home with his loved ones by his side following a courageous battle with cancer that lasted over two years. He was born on September 15, 1957, in Bellaire, Ohio, to the late John Robert and Bernice Kinder Lovejoy.
John worked as a computer programmer for many years as well as a farmer. He loved working on his farm. He especially enjoyed his 2 favorite animals, his donkeys Clem and Ollie! He was also an avid beekeeper. He, like his father, was a coin collector. John was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz. He was a member of the Flushing Masonic Lodge #298 and served as their secretary. He was a very proud Chairman of the 23rd District Volunteer Program. John was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville.
John was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Carol J. Ager Teter.
He is survived by his sisters, Kathie (Don) Barnes of Neffs, Ohio and Karen L. (Rodney) Kovacs of Flushing, Ohio; 3 nephews, Tate (Kelly) Barnes of Medina, Matt (Shannon) Kovacs of Flushing and Joe (Natalie) Kovacs of Bethesda, Ohio; 6 great nieces and nephews, Gwendolyn, Eliot, Reagan, Emberlyn, Daryth and Jake; step-daughter, Molly (Luke) Teter Webb and her children, Eva and Poppy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 12-1 at the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz. The Masonic Service will take place at 12:45 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with John Visser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the 23rd District Volunteer Program, c/o Deanna Kinney, P.O. Box 483, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
