Elmira
(Ellie) Jack passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at Western Reserve
Masonic Community, Medina, at the age of 97. She was born on September 14,
1928, to the late Edna (Thompson) and Floyd Dickerson.
Ellie had fond memories of growing up
on a farm in Harrison County, Ohio. She and her sister walked to Beech Point, a
one-room schoolhouse, for their earliest school years, and then attended the
consolidated school in New Athens, where Ellie met classmate Bob Jack in the
fifth grade. She and Bob married in 1954. Ellie graduated from Kent State
University in 1952 and taught second and third grade, in Warrensville Heights
and Upper Arlington, Ohio. They moved their young family to Medina in 1966.
Her greatest joy was spending time
with family and friends. Elmira will be missed by her daughter Carol Duran
(Randy) and daughter-in-law Diane Jack (Bruce, deceased); granddaughters MJ
Ray, Elise Duran, Stephanie Jack (Danny Baker), Sophie Duran; great-granddaughter
Delia Jack; brother-in-law Edgar Lee Jack (Fern); nieces Nancy Norwalk, Holly
Brunacini, Sheryl Dyer, and Becky Shoup, as well as extended family and
friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Jack; her beloved husband
of 63 years, Bob Jack; and her sister and brother-in-law, Abigail and Frank
Norwalk.
The family will receive friends on
Friday, February 13, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina,
from 10:00 am until the memorial service begins at noon. Following lunch, a
graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Online
