James Falconer

James A. Falconer, 77, of Minerva, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, in Aultman Hospital.

He was born July 14, 1948, in East Liverpool to Robert and Myrtle (Boyd) Falconer. 

He was a 1966 graduate of Southern Local High School. He was a dairy farmer and auctioneer/realtor, a former Columbiana County deputy sheriff and West Township trustee. Jim was a member of the Columbiana County Young Farmers Association and Columbiana County Farm Bureau. He was a founding member of the Columbiana County 4-H Dairy Beef Feeders Committee.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Hall) Falconer, whom he married July 24, 1971; a daughter, Jodi (Garrett) Powers of Hanoverton; a son, Josh (Gina) Falconer of Alliance; a sister, Mary Rush of Pinehurst, NC; and two grandchildren, Ellianna Powers and Dominic Falconer.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Rush, and his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carolyn Sue Falconer.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Timothy Muse officiating. 

Burial with full military honors will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. 

Calling hours were held Thursday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
