Marshall Ray Johnson
Marshall Ray “Dancing Eagle” Johnson passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.
He was born April 27, 1943, in Poe, West Virginia, to Francis and Essie Johnson.
Marshall was a Vietnam veteran who served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, including service aboard the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. He retired from Carroll County Co-Op and was Methodist by faith. He married the love of his life, JoAnn, on June 21, 2008. His hobbies included crafting Native American jewelry and wood carving, and he found solace in gardening.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Johnson of Scio; two stepsons, James Shafer of Scio and Paul (Patty) Shafer of Jewett; three daughters, Sheri Webster of Canton, Raechel Johnson of Kent and Christinia (William) Kinser of Alliance; brothers Roger (Vicki) Johnson of Salem and Eugene (Jane) Johnson of Salem; four grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Marvin Johnson and Bill Johnson; and sisters Alice Fitzwater and Diana Perry.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Allmon Dugger Cotton Funeral Home at noon. Military honors will follow.
Burial will take place at Perrysville Cemetery.
