John Woodrow Murray
John Woodrow Murray, 78, passed away on August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on April 24, 1947, to John and Katie (Polka) Murray of Dover. He graduated from Dover High School in 1965 and proudly served in the National Guard.
John married Cheryl Berger on July 24,1971. They were married for 54 happy years. John could fix almost anything. He successfully ran Sugarcreek Auto and Truck Parts for over 50 years. A member of Shanesville Lutheran Church, He served on the Church Council.
In addition to his family, he loved cars, books, and his cat Abigail. A people person, he made friends wherever he went and always had a story or joke to share. We have no doubt he's already busy bending God's ear.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law Carrie Murray.
John is survived by his wife Cheryl, his son Troy, and his daughter Michelle (Fumin) Murray Yang.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mustafa Baldawi and the staff of Aultman Hospital's Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit for their kindness and support.
Calling hours were held at Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The funeral services followed at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's memory to Shanesville Lutheran Church in Sugarcreek.
And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)
