David Paul Cunningham Jr., 55, of Bowerston, Ohio, passed away Nov. 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 14, 1969, in Canton, Ohio, to the late David Paul Cunningham Sr. and Patty (Simpson) Cunningham.
Dave graduated from Carrollton High School and Buckeye Career Center in 1988, then joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served proudly.
He was an over-the-road trucker for a time before deciding to work hauling locally. He had a great love for horses from the time he was a little boy, just as his dad did. I have a fond memory from when David, Cissy and I were kids, when he liked to “be a horse” and ran on all four hands and feet everywhere he went. Everywhere, all the time. He finally grew out of that, but it was a favorite memory over the years for me.
Dave was a good friend to many and was always up for a party. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister, Jeannie (Larry) Moore of Carrollton, and brother, Tim (Angie) Cunningham of Uhrichsville; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and special friends Eric (April) Rogers and Ricky Byrd, who helped him and took good care of him until the end of his battle. He was also blessed with many other great friends.
Annonse
Dave was preceded in death by his mom, Patty, in May 2003; his sister, Chris Cunningham, in December 2024; and his dad, Paul, in July 2025.
There will be no services.
His wishes were “to have a celebration of my life for me in the warm future by having a hog roast with everyone and to raise a toast in my memory.”
Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
