Leona M. Gray
Leona Marie (Sallade) Gray “Punkin,” 78, of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, in Aultman Compassionate Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 12, 1947, to the late Lawrence and Leona (Dewell) Sallade.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion was being with family, helping others and serving the Lord.
Leona is survived by her husband, Richard Gray; son, Lawrence (Beth) Bates of Minerva; two brothers, Ernie and David Sallade; two sisters, Janet McMurray and Terry Collins; six grandchildren, Amber Bates, Porshia (Edward) Barker, Alexa (Noah) Allison, Alivia (Tyler) Bardall, Cruz Bates, and a very special granddaughter, Shameless Bates; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon (Bates) VanFossen; son, Leonard “Andy” Bates; and brother, James Sallade.
“Punkin” will be remembered for her kind heart, love of children and her faith in the Lord.
