David Michael Myers, 76, of Carrollton, passed away unexpectedly at his home Jan. 26, 2026.
He was born April 26, 1949, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Henry and Leota Myers.
A 1967 graduate of Carrollton High School, he went on to complete his bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Alabama. After graduation, he became the band director of Lynn High School in Lynn, Alabama. Upon moving back to Carrollton in 1979, he served as band director of Conotton Valley High School, eventually accepting a position in the Carrollton Exempted Village School District as a music teacher. He later became the voice of the Carrollton Warriors Marching Band, serving as assistant band director until his retirement in 2007.
David was a loyal and dutiful husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrollton, serving in many roles over his lifetime. He was enormously proud of his work growing the donation barn, which helped support the local parish. He also served the local food bank, Loaves and Fishes.
In his free time, he enjoyed his hobbies as an avid fisherman, golfer and musician. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the village of Carrollton for 15 years and worked as an EMT for Sweeney-Dodds Ambulance, later helping with the transition to METS Ambulance service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Myers Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Myers; daughters, Kerri Van Meter and Stephanie Myers; grandchildren, Dylan, Morgan, Ian and Genevieve; and his brother, James (Carol) Myers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrollton, with the Rev. Andrew Riggs officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service. Burial took place at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Carrollton Band Boosters, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Carrollton.
