Amy Marie Bowden, 65, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, in her home at St. John's Villa.
Our small corner of the world was blessed Jan. 11, 1960, when Amy was born in Lakewood, Ohio.
She brightened every room with her sweet nature, kind eyes and delightful sense of humor. She never met a stranger.
As a resident at St. John's Villa, she worked in the Villa restaurant for many years. She competed in Special Olympics thanks to the devotion of staff who made her swimming career possible. She brought a smile to all who worked and lived with her.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents; her cousin, Jon Capri; and recently by her aunt, Patt Capri Adkins.
She leaves behind sisters Gwen Williams, Wendy Jomant and Gretchen (Phil) Casey and their families, as well as a meaningful extended chosen family at the Villas, her dear friend and birthday buddy of 45 years, Lori Scholtz, and many Bowden and Capri family members.
She lived a rich life filled with travel and adventure. She was a bright light and will be dearly missed.
St. John's Villa was Amy's home for most of her life. The family is deeply grateful to the many people who were part of Amy’s life. Staff in Amy's House G were reassuring constants; they loved her, and she loved them.
A celebration of Amy's life was held at St. John's in the gathering room Monday, Aug. 18, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Villa, 701 Crest St. NW, Carrollton, OH 44615, or at www.stjohnsvilla.net/contribute.
