Robert W. Yoder
Robert W. Yoder “Rob Daudy”, 96, of Walnut Creek, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Ruth and Jason Schlabach residence on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
He was born on January 6, 1929, to the late William R. and Susie (Pfister) Yoder. On December 30, 1952, he married Mattie J. Miller who preceded him in death on May 3, 2009.
As a youth, Robert served in 1W Service in Cleveland. He held various jobs throughout his life including working as a roofer and was also employed by Precision Door and Swiss Valley Fence.
He was a member of the Amish Church and church life was always very important to him. Wintertime would usually find him in Sarasota, Florida and he enjoyed the many friends and connections he made there. In retirement he made wooden pens for a hobby and would distribute them to his friends. He loved visitors and he loved sharing a bowl of popcorn or ice cream with them when they came.
He is survived by his children, Mary Ellen (Robert) Thornburg of Sugarcreek, Ina (Joseph) Mullet of Sugarcreek, Daniel (late Arvada) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Esther (late Dave) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Ruth (Jason) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Jacob (Martha) Yoder of Winesburg, Joseph W. (late Sally Ann) Yoder of Millersburg, Karen (Galen) Zook of Georgetown, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Clara (Ivan) Miller of Sugarcreek; 29 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Monroe (Susie) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Adin (late Liz) Yoder of Tuscan, Arizona and Emma (late Levi) Troyer of Mt. Hope.
In addition to his parents and his wife Mattie, he was preceded in death by his son, Earl Yoder; son-in-law, Dave Yoder; daughters-in-law, Sally Yoder, and Arvada Yoder; grandson, Jeremy Zook; and siblings, Daniel, Albert, Roman, Elva, Amanda, and Clara.
Friends were able to call at Sharon Mennonite Church, 1717 CR 140, Sugarcreek from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral services were held at the Mark Hochstetler residence, 4312 CR 145, Sugarcreek, on Sunday, December 7, at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Mark Miller officiated. Burial followed in the Beachy Cemetery.
