Myron Troyer

Myron Dean Troyer, 97, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Oak Pointe Nursing Home in Baltic following a period of declining health.

Myron was born on September 12, 1928, in Clark Twp. to the late Cletus G. and Bernice (Shutt) Troyer and married Twila M. Miller on April 28, 1951. She died on March 22, 2021.

He was a graduate of Berlin High School, a member of the Sugarcreek Church of the Brethern, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years, he was also a member of the former Sugarcreek Lions Club and an avid Garaway Pirates Fan.

He worked as a master carpenter in construction and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. Receiving the rank of Sergeant.

He is survived by his four children, Jeffrey (Shelley) Troyer, Douglas (Connie) Troyer, Scott Troyer, and Pamela (Steve) Fowler; grandchildren, Stacie (Brian) Pfeiffer, Zeb (Erica) Troyer, Kellie (Branden Richardson) Yackey, Dawn Clark, and James Russell; great grandchildren, Emily (Spencer) Quillen, Matthew Pfeiffer, Keara Yackey, Karson Yackey. Kahleb Clark, Kyson Troyer, Krew Troyer, and Braunsen Richardson, and great-great grandchild Raelynn Quillen.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, D. Max Troyer.

Services were held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Dr. Tom Hendershot officiated. Burial took place in East Lawn Cemetery where military honors were held.

Friends were able to call on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services.

The family would like to thank Ohio's Hospice, Oak Pointe Nursing Center, Veteran Services of New Philadelphia, and various caregivers who helped during his stay at home.
