Lucille Dodge
Lucille Dodge, 97, of Sugarcreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Truman House on March 1, 2026.
She was born October 19, 1928, in Sugarcreek to the late Ernest and Laura (Penrod) Schupbach.
Lucille is survived by her husband Donald E. Dodge, whom she married June 17, 1950. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2025.
Also Surviving are two children, Pamela Osborne of Sugarcreek and Jeff (Janet) Dodge of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren: Matthew (Samantha) Osborne of Evergreen, Colorado; Eric (Brittany) Dodge of New Philadelphia: and Lisa (Matt) Lippencott of Tuscarawas; great-grandchildren Odin Osborne, Wyatt and Weston Dodge, and Landon and Liam Lippencott.
Lucille worked at the Hoover Co. in Canton after graduating from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School. She also worked at The Budget as a linotype operator, and as an office worker at the former Alsco plant. She retired as an assistant librarian at the Sugarcreek library.
Lucille was a life-long member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek and a member of its Dorcas Circle, a weekly group of quilters, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Eugene, Thomas, and Atlee Schupbach; a sister, Gladys Marker; sisters-in-law Patricia (Schupbach) May; Agnes Schupbach; Betty (Dodge) Smith: Lucy (Schupbach) Rosenberry; and son-in-law Clair Osborne.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Rev. Earl Rogers officiating. Inurnment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to her service.
