Sister Maria Andujo, RGS, 81, a member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, passed away peacefully Feb. 13, 2026, at the Carrollton Community Convent in Carrollton.
She was born April 19, 1944, in Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico. Sister Maria professed temporary vows with the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity on Aug. 19, 1982, in Pittsburgh and professed final vows Sept. 5, 1986, in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Sister Maria’s preparation for ministry included religious studies in Scripture, liturgy, Mariology and church history at Interreligioso Guadalupano de Saltillo in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, and continuing education courses in Dallas.
She served in El Paso, Texas, where she assisted in a program to feed those in the homeless community. She also served in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas, and at the community’s retreat center in Walden, New York.
A deeply religious woman with a positive spirit, Sister Maria was kind and welcoming to everyone. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as food preparation. She was constantly engaged in community life and always ready to lend a hand whenever help was needed. She will be remembered for her warm smile and graceful presence, as well as her dedication to prayer and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gonzalo Andujo; her mother, Francisca Bustillos Andujo; her brothers, Hector Rafael, Gonzalo and Francisco; and her sister, Maria del Carmen.
Survivors include her brother, Ricardo; her sisters, Maria Elizabeth and Lucelva; many nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd.
Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 23, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in El Paso, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Interment followed in Mount Carmel Cemetery, El Paso.
