Anna Catherine Ossler, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Oct. 20, 2025, at Heartlands in Ellicott City, Maryland.
She was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Canton, to Charles and Dorothy (Sommer) Ossler. Raised in Robertsville, she attended Minerva High School and graduated with the Class of 1964.

Anna attended Ohio State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Northwestern University. While she began her studies in speech pathology, she went on to earn a master’s degree in special education and administration.
She retired from the Montgomery County Public School System in 2006. Anna began her distinguished career in education as a teacher specialist in special education and later served as principal of Sherwood Elementary, a role she greatly enjoyed. She continued to work for the school system in several administrative capacities for the remainder of her career.
After retirement, Anna moved to Easton, where she enjoyed volunteering, making new friends, and embracing life after work. In 2021, she relocated to Howard County to be closer to her family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Tom Koehler, Anna is survived by her daughter, Lora Koehler, and her husband, Jim Walraven; granddaughter, Clementine Walraven; sister, Darlene Russ of Magnolia, and her family; and sister, Charlene Ossler, and her husband, Alex Feng, of San Leandro, California.
Anna will be remembered as tough, spirited, and full of life. She was a fighter, an advocate, fun-loving, generous, and a loyal friend. She loved nice things, driving fast, an evening out, and a good book — and she never hid what she was thinking. Her unrelenting spirit and love will be missed greatly.
