Robert "Bob" Lincoln Gooding

Robert "Bob" Lincoln Gooding, CPA, 78, of Hartville, OH passed away on October 22, 2025, from health issues related to Parkinson's disease.

Bob was born on April 29, 1947, in Carrollton, OH, to Lloyd and Lowella (Zimmerman) Gooding as one of 12 children.

He is survived by his wife and cycling partner of 41 Years, Marianne (Ball) Gooding; and siblings, Patricia (Allen) Reynolds, Darrell, Peg (Jim) Townsend, Michael (Gil), Don (Deb), Susan, and Jean (Deward) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lowell (Betty), Thomas (Bonnie), Kathryn (David) Fondriest, and Jeri.

A graduate of Carrollton High School, class of 1965, Bob went on to Kent State University to earn a degree in Audiology. He was then drafted into the Army in 1970 where he proudly served as a First Sergeant for four years as a medic in New Mexico and West Point where he ran the ENT clinic. He later went back to Kent State University where he earned a degree in accounting and then passed the CPA exam.

He worked at the Hoover Company in the factory and then in the accounting department until his retirement in 2004. He then had his own CPA practice until 2015.

Bob was an avid bicyclist and longtime member and officer of the Stark County Bicycle Club. He was also a dedicated host of many gatherings for family and friends over the years.

Those who knew Bob will remember him for his many talents, kindness, and generosity. He was an excellent cook and baker, well known for his triple chocolate cake. He cherished his family and took in several of his younger siblings when family tragedy struck after he served in the Army. He worked with genealogy to create a beautiful family tree book for his wife's family to preserve their legacy.

Bob bravely faced his 17-year battle with Parkinson's with courage, grace and the enduring love and support of his devoted wife and many others. These include his extended family, Ball family in-laws, dear friends Sharon and Brad Price, Carl Morgan, Marty and Jeannie Klanchor, Tom Wagner and Tom Zucal as well as many cycling friends, other Parkinson's Warriors, and the dedicated staff of Aultman Hospital and Aultman Compassionate Care Center.

To help and support others, Bob donated his body to NEOMED for study.
