Conesville data center raises concerns for reader
Lake Township sets moratorium on new data centers
Trustees also reschedule May meetings, approve purchases and expenditures
At their April 27 meeting, Lake Township trustees passed a resolution to establish a six-month moratorium on any new data centers in the township. They will also consider adding a section about data centers to the township zoning resolution.
In other business, the board rescheduled May meetings. Because of scheduling conflicts, the May 11 meeting will be held May 8 at 8:30 a.m. Because of the Memorial Day holiday, the second meeting in May will be held May 22 at 2:45 p.m.
Trustees engaged in extensive discussion with the owners of a property in Lake o’Pines Estates who had enclosed a ditch without the required permit. The township legal counsel advised the board to tell the property owners to replace the ditch within six months.
The board agreed to purchase a pipe camera for the road department from The Safety Company LLC, doing business as MTech, for $96,855.66. The department has been borrowing the device from other local governments.
Trustees agreed to pay H&H Dumpster Company $3,750 for disposal services for the spring clean-up.
The board authorized renewal of membership in the Stark County Township Association for 2026-27.
The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a hearing May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Township Hall.
The board approved total expenditures of $116,071.25.
The meeting was streamed on Facebook Live and was open to in-person public access. The video may be viewed on the township’s Facebook page. Those watching may submit questions by email to info@laketwpstarkco.com.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Lake Township Trustees will be held May 8 at 8:30 a.m. at Township Hall, 12360 Market Ave. North. All meetings are open to the public by live-streaming.
