Hartville Village Council filled a vacant seat by appointing Greg Warder and approved several measures, including temporary moratoriums on new data centers and outdoor recreation facilities.

Hartville Village Council is back to full membership.

At its June 8 meeting, council selected Greg Warder to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Councilman Tom Hough. All council members voted in favor of the appointment.

Mayor Cynthia Billings was absent. Council President James Sullivan presided.

In other business, Village Engineer Jason Miller presented his report, including revised engineering fees for the 2027 paving program.

Police Chief Kevin Moore presented his report, including a reminder that e-bikes have become an issue on local roads and that motorists should remain alert while driving.

Councilman Chris Ramsburg thanked those who participated in the recent Art in the Park and Heritage Gateway dedication events, including Bev Green, Michelle and Rich Cutler, Gabby Klein, Dave and Joanne Miller, Barb Wise, Megan Wise and several members of the Lions Club.

Council also passed several pieces of legislation, including emergency measures establishing a 12-month moratorium on new data centers operating or locating in the village and a six-month moratorium on new outdoor recreation facilities. Council also approved an ordinance amending wage and salary schedules for elected officials and village employees, an ordinance amending annual appropriations for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2026, a resolution establishing the Safe Routes to School Fund, and an ordinance setting compensation for the village zoning inspector and administrative officer.

The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 22 at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting also will be livestreamed on Facebook.
