Marlboro Township to hold Memorial Day parade, cemetery program
Flyover, luncheon and free ice cream among activities planned
Marlboro Township will host its annual Memorial Day observance Monday, May 25, featuring a parade, cemetery program and a flyover by an Ohio National Guard C-130 aircraft.
The parade will step off at 1 p.m. from the village square, with a program at Marlboro Cemetery scheduled to begin around 2 p.m. Organizers said the flyover by the Ohio National Guard C-130 is expected at about 2 p.m.
Rev. Ed Harnish will serve as parade marshal. Jeff Baker will serve as master of ceremonies for the cemetery program, which will include performances by the Marlington Band and Community Singers, a Gold Star tribute by Debbie White and remarks from guest speaker Vondea Sheaffer of the Marlboro Township Historical Society.
Additional activities are planned throughout the day. The Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host a lunch stand at the fire station beginning at 11 a.m., and the Marlboro Township Historical Society will offer free ice cream at the Kersey Thomas House on the village square.
The program also will include participation from the 1st Marlboro Volunteers, Marlboro Student Council and several local organizations and community groups.
