Lions clubs, Lake Schools name April honorees

Students, staff and volunteer recognized at April 28 board meeting

The Lions Clubs of Uniontown and Hartville have joined forces to honor outstanding students, teachers, employees and volunteers of Lake Local Schools each month. Lake Local Board of Education President Scot Nabors and Uniontown Lion Dr. John Thomas presented the awards at the April 28 Board of Education meeting. Each honoree received a framed certificate and a gift certificate to local businesses.

Ezra Chaney, a third-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the son of Ashley and Ozzy Chaney. Ezra truly encompasses what it means to be a Blue Streak. He is the first person to lend a helping hand when someone needs it. Ezra is a kind friend and never lets anyone play alone. He is an incredibly hard worker. He always comes to school with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. Ezra puts forth his best effort each day and consistently perseveres, even when things get difficult.

Kaiya McCutcheon, a third-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the daughter of Javelle and Josh McCutcheon. She is an outstanding student who comes to school with a great attitude and is always willing to learn. Kaiya has a strong work ethic. She challenges herself every day. Kaiya is a very responsible student and is dedicated to her schoolwork. She always puts forth strong effort with her assignments. Kaiya also leads by example and is a positive role model to her classmates. She is well liked by her peers and teachers.

Dominic Zuk, a fifth-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the son of Andrea and Jonathan Zuk. He is a respectful and hardworking student who consistently demonstrates strong character both in and out of the classroom. He exemplifies what it means to be Great at Lake through his positive attitude and commitment to doing his best. Dom leads by example and shows kindness and responsibility in everything he does.

Taelyn Robertson, a fifth-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the daughter of Kilie Silin and Brian Robertson. Taelyn is an ambitious and optimistic student who consistently brings positive energy to the classroom. She is a leader who sets a strong example for her peers through her actions and attitude. Taelyn’s leadership and determination help create a supportive learning environment.

Brooklynn Collins, an eighth-grade student at Lake Middle/High School, is the daughter of Ashley and Chris Collins. She sets an excellent example daily in American history class. Brooklynn demonstrates many positive qualities as a leader. She works hard, is polite, humble, works well with others and demonstrates confidence and pride in her daily work. Overall, Brooklynn is a strong classmate to her peers and leads by example.

Matthew Carney, an eighth-grade student at Lake Middle/High School, is the son of Cindy and Chris Carney. Matthew sets a positive example in American history class. He is a hard worker and a leader in the school. He comes prepared for class and adds to discussions by asking questions or volunteering answers. He works well with others and challenges himself daily. Matthew represents what it means to be a Blue Streak.

Isabelle Seesan, a senior at Lake Middle/High School, is the daughter of Natalie and Michael Seesan. Isabelle is a hardworking student academically and exhibits strong personal character. Her qualities make her a leader in a challenging class. In addition to her academics, Isabelle has participated in volunteering, school clubs and athletics.

Alex Yokley, a senior at Lake Middle/High School, is the son of Jennifer Yokley. He is a hardworking and conscientious student who is positive and gets along well with peers. He participates in class discussions and is consistently ranked near the top of his class academically.

Teacher of the Month Regina Turgeon is a first-grade teacher who brings energy, creativity and dedication to her classroom. She creates an engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable participating. She collaborates with colleagues and incorporates real-world connections into lessons. Turgeon is also a member of the MISS team, helping support schoolwide initiatives. She is known for her creativity and willingness to support others.

Employee of the Month Amy Martin is a bus aide who connects with students and creates a safe, calm environment. Her patience and attentiveness help preschoolers feel supported. She assists drivers and ensures students are secure, and is always willing to help when needed.

Volunteer of the Month Allison Fugitt is a substitute at Lake Elementary who steps in where needed and makes a positive impact. During Right to Read Week, she helped transform the school into a Wizard of Oz-themed environment, supporting literacy efforts. Her creativity and dedication contributed to a successful event.
