Lois Eileen Kurtz Oatley Lehner, age 90, went to the arms of Jesus on October 3, 2025. Lois was a lifelong resident of her beloved Hartville. She was born at home in Louisville, OH. She spent her early years on her parents' farm on Duquette Avenue (Hartville, OH) where she helped her dad plow the fields with a team of horses.
She graduated from Hartville High School, class of 1953. She then attended Bridgewater College in VA, transferring to Manchester College in IN, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and a K-12 teaching certificate. Lois also received a master’s degree in education from Kent State University. She was a member of the Hartville Church of the Brethren, and longtime member of the Canton College Club. She served on the recreation committee for the village of Hartville and for more than 10 years she served as a trustee for the Lake Township Historical Society.
Lois is survived by a daughter Lisa Noelle Roberts (Hartville) and a son Matthew Kurtz Oatley (N. Canton) wife Brenda Kirk Oatley and five beautiful grandchildren, Chelsea Roberts (Orlando, FL) Ashley Roberts (Columbia, SC) JD Roberts (Lexington, KY) Jay Oatley (N. Canton) Zachary Oatley (N. Canton)
Lois was an only child, preceded in death by her parents, Jay Kinsley Kurtz, and Ruth Alberta Bowser Kurtz, and by her husband John Lehner and son-in-law John Scott Roberts.
Funeral service for Lois will be held on Thursday October 9th at East Nimishillen Church. Calling hours will begin at 12:30pm, funeral service at 1:30pm, with graveside service and dinner at the church to follow. Pastor Jim Lee officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the East Nimishillen Church.
