John Phillip Cummins Sr. better known as “Joe”, 83 quietly passed away March 23, 2024, during the night with his kids at his bedside.

Joe was born in Akron, Ohio on March 14, 1941, to Dursilla and John Cummins. His father passed away when he was a toddler. He was raised by Drue's second husband Nipper. He went to Kenmore schools, graduating in 1959. Afterwords joining the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. When returning home he worked many jobs and retired from the Akron Beacon Journal. He lived in Akron and Hartville the majority of his life.

He is preceded in death by his son Joe Cummins Jr, grandson AAron Bennington, parents, and sister Cheryl "Cherry" Ballard.

He is survived by his wife of 30 plus years Jenny Sterling, Son Ryan (Irene) Cummins, daughter Krista (Todd) Kolstad and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces. We will miss his quiet gentle nature, kindness, stories and knowledge. A memorial service for Joe with Military Honors was held on Thursday, August 21 at 11 am at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, OH 44203. Urn Burial will take place at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron at the family plot.
