David Wileman

David E. Wileman, 88, of North Canton, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 16, 2025.

He was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Lloyd and Ortella (Davy) Wileman.

Dave graduated from Kent State University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked at Alliance and Timken high schools, where he taught drafting and design. Dave also worked at the former Stark Technical College, being one of the original professors. He retired from teaching after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Dave was a devoted member of Evermore Community Church, where he married his wife, Mary E. Beachy Sommers Wileman. They shared 21 loving years together.

He loved being involved in the community, volunteering at the Hartville Thrift Store for 15 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed puzzles, games with friends and never missed an episode of “Jeopardy.”

Dave and his wife, Mary, were avid snowbirds for 10 years, spending six months in Sarasota, Florida, where they made many fond memories and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary E. Wileman; children, Jenni (David) Dodge, Kathi (John) Doshak, Vicki (Larry) Kurtz, Steve (Anne) Sommers, Diane (Wendell) Sommers and Deb (Steve) Brooker; grandchildren, Keith (Lisa) Dodge, Kate Dodge, Shannon (Rick) Miller, Caleb (Megan) Kurtz, Whitney (Bobby) DeVita, Rane (Emily) Sommers, Trey Sommers, Riley Sommers, Chase (Erin) Sommers, Katie (Jared) Camp, Nick Brooker, Paige Sommers, Jed Sommers and Braylan Sommers; great-grandchildren, Ian and Emma Dodge, Gideon and Judah Miller, Levi, Emma, Nora and Easton Kurtz, Cohen and Cooper Camp, Nico DeVita and three beloved foster great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie Wileman, and sisters Mae Ellen Giessler, Nancy Ann Giessler and Mary Lou Wileman.

The family received friends Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Evermore Community Church, 1470 Smith-Kramer St., Hartville, Ohio.

A funeral service was held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Butch Nisly officiating.

Calling hours began at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
