Brian E. Slates, 54, of Wellsville, formerly of Hartville, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 9, 2025, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 8, 1971, in Akron, to Ronald and Joanne (Hixon) Slates.
Brian was a 1989 graduate of Lake High School. He was a pipe liner, working on the Keystone Pipeline. He fell in love with the western United States, especially Wyoming and Oregon, which he called “God’s Country.” Brian loved the Lord, and he loved his family. He also loved cars, especially Mustangs, and the solitude of being outdoors.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Joanne (Michael) Lebo; father and stepmother, Ronald (Dixie) Slates; brothers and sisters, Mark (Lori) Slates, Michael (Heidi) Lebo Jr., Beth Scheetz, Kelly (Chuck) Ikey, Kathy (Steve) Chenevey, and Robert (Courtney) Lebo; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Rick (Kim) Haines, Doug (Anne) Haines, Brenda Barnhart, and Danny Singer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by stepsister Dannilee McGunagel and stepbrother David Singer.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
