Zane Carson, 15, of Hopedale, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born May 11, 2008 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of Donald Paul “D.P.” and Tina Marie McAfee Carson of Hopedale, Ohio.

Zane was getting ready to start his sophomore year at Harrison Central High School where he played soccer, and lettered in track, wrestling, and academics. Zane was also active in racing motor cross, where he was the 2021 class champion.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Anna Beall Carson, maternal great grandparents, George and Faye McAfee and paternal great grandparents, Richard and Rena Carson. Surviving in addition to his parents; are his sister, Ava of the home; maternal grandparents, George “Smoke” and Carol McAfee of Hopedale; aunts and uncles: Barbara (Eric) Glaff of Jupiter, Florida, Tom (Dawn) Carson of Hopedale, Tammie (Chris) Taylor of Hopedale and Tracy (Glenn) Mattern of Hopedale; and cousins: Cami Cunningham, Hannah, Jacob & Andrew Mattern and Madison & Payton Taylor.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at the John W. Stephenson Center, 18 Court Street, Cadiz next to the Harrison Central Football and Soccer complex, where funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to establish a scholarship in Zane’s name to: Cadiz High School Alumni Association, c/o Jon Kirkland, 413 Oakwood Drive, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
