The Harrison County Regional Chamber of Commerce performed a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at “Blakes Family Deals.” Blakes Family Deals is a new business now operating on Main Street in Cadiz, in the previously operated Rogers Family and UTICA Uniform Stores. On hand with the Blakes during the ribbon cutting were Chamber members Joyce Klinger – Executive President, Nan Mattern – Executive Chair, Milo Baker – Executive Director, Janet Fenstemaker – Member, and George Bedway – Member.
“It is wonderful to see new businesses come to Harrison County,” said Klinger. “We are especially happy over those businesses that come to the county, especially those that remain open. The Chamber welcomes any and all businesses that has an interest in our county. Having these new businesses come to Harrison helps us with our mission to see the county thrive.”
“The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce was started in 1972 by Anita and Eddie Coultrap. Today, we as new Chamber members, are proud to carry on with what they have started. This new business has been seeing patrons since they opened. We hope the trend remains and we invite everyone to visit and see what they have to offer.”
Blakes Deals is owned by Sam Blake of Adena. The store operators are Sam and his wife, Tiffany. The store has been opened in Cadiz since February 2024, but the Blakes have been in business since 2019. Previously, their business was operated through the internet. The store has a variety of articles in stock and currently on display. You can find such things as flashlights, baby articles, clothing, jewelry, and the list is endless.
“We found that advertising has helped us be successful,” said Sam Blake. “We have also found out operating successfully comes from beating inflation. Our prices are designed to attract and keep future business from our customers. We especially like to have our everyday items priced more affordable than retail. We are proud to be a “family owned and operated” business. My mother helps out, and my brother assists with both promoting sales and advertising designs where needed. Around 60 percent of our family is in Harrison County. We are very close to our store in Cadiz by living in Adena.”
The Blakes are currently having a give-away drawing. Store patrons can participate by signing up at the store. The event is being held May 10-17. The drawing will take place May 18. The items up for the drawing can be seen in the store’s front window. Anyone seeking information on the store or items can call 740-320-4120.
