Do-It-Yourself: Lemon Blueberry Bash
Hey y’all! Grab your iced tea, hit the porch swing and let’s chat. I’ll let you decide on sippin’ sweet or unsweet tea. Unsweet tea is my go-to, because as my dad tells me, “You’re sweet enough!” Gee, thank you, dad; but you’re the sweet one.
With the arrival of warmer days, I wanted to make a DIY gathering that celebrates summer. A gathering as friendly as the flavors this time of year. Enter in the Lemon Blueberry Bash!
This sweet lemon blueberry themed social event could be something you throw for your girlfriends, Bible study group, or family. Bridal showers, graduation parties, or birthday celebrations would shine bright with this theme, too.
Let’s meander our way onto some DIY party features!
Centerpiece
This finished mason jar features lemons balanced on top of each other sprinkled with bright blueberries throughout.
Items needed:
Half-gallon mason jar or large vase
3-4 cleaned whole lemons
1 carton of washed whole blueberries
Take your mason jar and place one lemon in the bottom. Put a half handful of blueberries in the bottom next to the lemon. Add another lemon on top of the bottom lemon. (It will be crooked. It does not need to be pushed down or anything). Place a few more berries in the jar. Place the last lemon on top of that lemon and finish with more blueberries. If you want to get fancy, add a few sprigs of baby breath or your favorite fresh yellow, blue, or white flowers to the jar to add some height!
Lemon Nametags
A simple lemon nametag is a sweet personal touch to any party. These can also be used for labeling foods and desserts.
Items needed:
Lemon – can be artificial or real
Push pin
Leaf-shaped paper cutout with the name written on it
Attach the leaf-shaped name tag to the lemon with the pushpin. It is that simple and ADORABLE!
For further inspiration, lay down a white plastic tablecloth on your guest table and put some blue and white striped fabric or ribbon down the middle. Place your centerpiece on top of the striped fabric in the center. Sprinkle some loose blueberries around your centerpiece, set out your lemon name tags, and you have a festive look that is sure to be as bright and cheery as your time together with your guests.
One last idea for this sweet and vibrant gathering is to assemble a make-your-own lemonade table! Place your favorite lemonade in a drink dispenser and have a variety of berries and garnishes for your guests to make their delicious creations to sip on. Some extra add-ins could be drink syrups such as blueberry, strawberry, or raspberry to go with the fresh berries provided. My personal choice would be a lovely lavender simple syrup added to my lemonade, studded with organic lavender buds. Divine.
I hope these Lemon Blueberry Bash DIYs and tips encourage you to squeeze the days of summer and make a memorable time together with those you love the berry most.
