They’re Coming to Take Me Away
Ruth Cunningham
Ruth Ann (Zimmerman) Cunningham, age 81, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1944 in New London, Ohio to the late Robert K. and Lois (Smith) Zimmerman.
She graduated from New London High School in 1962 and attended Midland College of Commerce. Ruth Ann served with her husband, Harvey, in pastoral ministry for several years.
You won’t meet a girl like Ruth Ann twice, and you won’t be able to forget her. She had a heart as big as the sun and a smile just as warm and bright. She loved being a wife, mother, and friend to many. A love of people led to work in the dental profession for 37 years. Ruth Ann ran ambulance as an EMT for Firelands Ambulance Service. She delivered the first baby (a boy) born in the squad. She served as a Hospice Volunteer and an 11th Hour Volunteer. Ruth Ann enjoyed being April the Clown and Snowflake the Elf. A joy of adventure took her and Harvey to many interesting places like staying in a in a shipping container for a weekend.
“When you see something beautiful in someone, tell them.”
Ruth Ann is survived by her husband and best friend, Harvey of (50+) years; sons Michael I. Cunningham and Alan Bayoneto of Brooklyn, New York; sisters Jo Ann (Richard) Hout and Polly Ann (Parminder) Sandhu.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lois Zimmerman and brother Robert K. Zimmerman Jr.
Calling hours will be held at the Miller Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. The funeral service will begin at 1pm with Pastor Aaron Dowell officiating. As per her wishes, a cremation will follow the service.
