Richard
Ernest Wilson, known to all as Rick, 66, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away
peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Zanesville, Ohio, surrounded by his loving
family. Born on May 1, 1959, in Long Beach, California, Rick lived a life full
of love for his family, pride in his work, and a deep connection to his faith.
Rick
served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1992 and was incredibly proud of
his role in Operation Desert Storm in the Middle East. His time as a soldier
showed his bravery and dedication. Outside of his military service, Rick worked
as a truck driver for many years, a job he took great pride in, hauling loads
across the country with skill and dedication.
Rick’s
family meant everything to him. He shared 39 years with his wife, Roxann, and
was a loving father to his son, Joshua , daughter-in-law, Desiree, and a proud
papaw to their daughter, Sophie. He’s also survived by his sisters, Mary Powell
(Chuck), Leann Young (John), and Sherry Bush (Danny); and many nieces and
nephews who will always remember him. Rick was preceded in death by his mother,
Barbara; his brother, Allen; and his grandparents, Agnes and Albert, and Linda
and Butch.
Rick
loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether cheering at
baseball games with Joshua or celebrating Sophie’s special moments. In his
quieter times, he enjoyed kicking back with his favorite old westerns and
keeping up with the world through the news. His kind, gentle heart touched
everyone he met, and he was always ready to help someone in need, often putting
others first. His selflessness and warmth made him truly special.
Rick’s
faith in God became a guiding light in his life. As he grew closer to the Lord,
he shared God’s love through his actions, inspiring those around him with his
kindness and compassion.
A
private celebration of Rick’s life will be held with his family.
Rick’s
love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and
loved.
